Your Seven Places to Stand
Seven days. One small place to stand at a time.
| 1 | Day 1 · Today You Do Not Have to Know What to Do Today. “There is no prize for grieving well.” |
| 2 | Day 2 · Fatherhood You Are Still Their Dad. “Your child’s death changed your fatherhood. It did not cancel it.” |
| 3 | Day 3 · Her You Can Care for Her Without Disappearing. “Presence does not require disappearance.” |
| 4 | Day 4 · Grief Grief Does Not Always Look Like Tears. “Sometimes grief doesn’t cry. It just changes what you are willing to live with.” |
| 5 | Day 5 · Faith God Can Handle the Real Version of You. “You don’t have to protect God from your grief.” |
| 6 | Day 6 · Love The Love Is Still Here. “The love does not need somewhere to disappear. It needs somewhere to go.” |
| 7 | Day 7 · Tomorrow Living Today Is Not Leaving Them Behind. “Tomorrow is not betrayal.” |
Who Wrote This Guide
“Your child’s death changed your fatherhood. It did not cancel it.”
I'm Spence Harris, and I'm The Daddiez Coach. I'm not a grief counselor. I'm not a therapist. I'm Maverick's dad.
I learned Maverick James was my son when he was four weeks old. Thirteen days later, he died from SIDS, one day shy of six weeks old. I was sitting at a stop sign in the hospital parking lot when his mom called back and said two words. He's gone.
I didn't write this from a mountaintop. I wrote it from a hospital parking lot.
I don't know your child. I don't know how long you had, what happened, or what you saw, and I won't pretend my pain gives me ownership of yours. But I know what it's like when everybody asks how Mom is doing and forgets there was a father standing there too.
So this isn't a program. It's seven small places to stand while the ground is still moving. No timeline. No pressure to be strong. Just a father who has stood where you're standing, sitting down beside you for a little while.

When You're Ready
Seven days won't carry you all the way. They don't have to.
The First 7 Days is a place to stand, not a finish line.
When you're ready for more, Still His Dad™ is the whole road — ten chapters on fatherhood after the death of a child, written so you don't have to walk it feeling as alone as I did. It will not tell you to move on, either.
Nothing to decide today. Start with the guide.
